You probably don't have to guess the subject of this post...

...because 9 times out of 10 I'm ranting about Andrew Bird.

And the blessed man has more than made up for his east coast tour which came no where near the humble mountain ranges and tree-filled valleys of the Northwest. The man is doing FIVE shows from Oregon to B.C. in September, and I will be attending TWO of them. Why? Because the man is brilliant. Let me encourage all my northwest chums to take advantage and check this man out in his best element, along with electronic musician and percussionist Martin Dosh. I'm all a-flutter with excitement.

Sept 26 - The Wow Hall - Eugene, Ore.
Sept 26 - Aladdin Theater - Portland, Ore.
Sept 28 - Chop Suey - Seattle, Wash. ***
Sept 29 - Media Club - Vancouver, B.C.
Sept 30 - The Nightlight - Bellingham, Wash. ***

*** I'm working the merch booth at these two shows, so you should come by and buy lots of CDs!

Also, as is ALWAYS good news, Mr. Bird is in the studio preparing an album for an early 2007 release. But he loves us so much that he's putting out a live album this fall, which we can only hope will be available by the time he's trotting around this side of the globe.

His live performances are quite a sight, and I highly HIGHLY encourage y'alls to go peep him out! If you don't believe me, listen below:

Andrew Bird - A Nervous Tic Motion Of The Head To The Left (Live in Amsterdam)

Andrew Bird - Sovay (Live on KCRW)

a bit off-topic, but have you heard Sufjan's The Avalanche? Just curious.

wait... are you actually "ranting" about AB, or "raving"?

Or did I just mistype "canting?" Perhaps I was going around singing his name in gregorian chant...

This is a mystery on the level of how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop...

are you coming to bellingham when he plays the nightlight? I'm planning on going either way, but seeing you would make it much more important.

Graham,

I was going to call you for that very reason. I'm going to be there like shareware yo... I'm hitting up both the Seattle and the B-ham show! WOOT!

And I'll actually be once again living in the Seattlearea by then!

Now who's the lucky one...I'm stuck here in Sarasota, FL without a decent concert in sight!

Would this be a bad time to mention that I'm going to see Sufjan Stevens in September?

My drought of concerts is finally seeing its first rain... I've got Sufjan and Bird in the fall, and then if I'm lucky I'll be hitting up Bumbershoot to see Feist, P:Ano and Vashti Bunyan, among many others...

Ah employment... you give me such sweet money for concerts!

This begs the question, what the heck are you doing in Florida in AUGUST? It sounds like an unbearable fahrenheit hell to me...

I want to see Sufjan *whimper* And Feist and Vasti Bunyan would be cool too. It would rock if there were some indie music thang in seattle in december, yes it would...

We'll work on it... I'll give a call to all your faves and tell them to get their butts out here in December!

It could be a winter-fest...

Some year you'll need to schedule your trip down during Bumbershoot. I suspect we'd be hitting many of the same shows... which would be fun.

Part of me thinks it will be very nice to be home during Christmas for once, and the other part of me thinks I'll never actually see anyone, they'll all be off somewhere too! So I hope people aren't making cross-country plans, at least not extensive multi-week ones.

It is a farenheit hell, but one with the misses so I can't complain. AC and nice beaches keep me going. And it's only until September, so we'll be leaving when it just starts getting nice.
